INTRODUCTION

BARSTONE IRRIGATION SYSTEMS (Pty) Ltd was established in 1968 under the name of Mannesmann Overhead Irrigation, a division of what was then a large mining and industrial manufacturing company, Stonestreet and Hansen (Pty) Ltd of Elandsfontein.
Mannesmann Irrigation was solely involved in the design and supply of irrigation systems and equipment to the agricultural sector, and was credited with the pioneering and development of many large agricultural irrigation schemes in Southern Africa at that time.
 

 

Barstone Irrigation Systems (Pty) Ltd was registered as a private company under it’s present name in 1982, and today specialises in the design and supply of irrigation systems and equipment for agriculture, industry, mines, schools, parks and recreation, and services both the local and export markets from it’s premises on the East Rand of Gauteng Province. Irrigation equipment is both locally manufactured and imported, and the company still manufactures a few items of the Mannesman range, the Waterporter and the Hoseporter.
